Access to Research (A2R) Advocacy scheme privacy notice

This privacy notices tell you how the PGR Diversity Team uses data about you when you apply for the Access to Research (A2R) Advocacy Scheme.

Data protection 

The University of Leeds aims to widen access to postgraduate education via the A2R Advocacy Scheme and other initiatives as a task in the public interest; we process personal data and special category personal data about the applicants to our programs for the purposes of: 

  • Assessing your eligibility for this widening participation scheme. 
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the programme.   
  • Introducing you to academics taking part in the Advocacy Scheme (if applicable).  
  • We will also share evaluation findings with university colleagues and the wider HE sector (your data will be anonymised and small numbers suppressed to avoid identifying participants). 
  • Contacting you about further A2R events and opportunities, if you give us your consent. 

The University of Leeds will not publish any information that may identify you. We do not, and will not, sell your data to third parties.   

Retention 

Please see the University of Leeds Retention Schedule for details of how long the University will keep data about you.  The PGR Diversity Team retain your personal in the A2R Advocacy records until you are no longer participating in the scheme. If you decide that you no longer wish to receive communication from the PGR Diversity Team, please contact us to unsubscribe. 

Your rights as a data subject 

Under GDPR you have the right to: 

  • withdraw consent where that is the legal basis of our processing 
  • access your personal data that we process 
  • rectify inaccuracies in personal data that we hold about you 
  • be forgotten, that is your details to be removed from systems that we use to process your personal data 
  • restrict the processing in certain ways 
  • obtain a copy of your data in a commonly used electronic form; and 
  • object to certain processing of your personal data by us.
