You can apply for one of our Masters courses online. This will allow you to track your application at each stage of the process. Before you apply, we recommend you take some time to read our admissions policy for 2018
As an international applicant we recommend you use the services of our overseas representatives to make your application.
If you are a non UK/EEA applicant we advise you to visit the Home Office website to check visa entry requirements for studying in the UK.
Step 1 find your course
Our full list of Masters courses can be found in our coursefinder. Some of our courses have an application deadline, for example in the Business School and Faculty of Engineering, so please check on coursefinder before applying. Please make sure that you are able to meet the following requirements of your chosen course before you apply:
- the academic entry requirements for your course
- the Universitys English language requirements
- financial requirements
If you have not yet met the entry requirements (eg youre still studying for the appropriate qualifications) you can still apply for a course. You may receive an offer of a place on the condition that you meet the requirements before you start your course.
The Steps to Postgraduate Study website, sponsored by the UK funding bodies, provides information for UK, EU and international students who are thinking about applying for Masters programmes.
Step 2 apply
We are now accepting applications for courses starting in September 2018. A limited number of courses which start after September are also accepting applications for the 2017/2018 academic year; please visit our coursefinder to check the possible start dates for your intended programme.
To apply, submit an application using our online portal. You will be able to log in and track the progress of your application at any time.
If you experience any difficulties, please contact our Admissions Enquiries team
Saving your application
You can save your application at any point so you do not need to fully complete it in one session. However, your application may be deleted after 180 days if you do not submit it.
Make sure you have all your supporting documents scanned and ready to upload with your online application. All documents should be in English, or sent with certified translations into English. Without copies of the required documents we will be unable to make you an offer.
Required documents include:
- degree certificate and academic transcripts
- evidence of English language proficiency
- scanned copies of any UK visa/permits you hold currently or have previously held if you are applying as an international student
If you are given an offer you will not be able to register as a student of the University until we have seen and accepted the original hard copies of your academic documents.
For the majority of our courses, you will need to submit names and contact details for two referees in support of your application. We may contact them on your behalf to request a reference. The acceptance of references is at the discretion of each academic school so if you have any questions relating to the format of references or nominating appropriate referees please contact your school directly
For full guidance on submitting references please see our taught Masters admissions policy
Step 3 we process your application
Your academic school may contact you directly if they require any further information or wish to invite you for an interview or audition. You will receive a notification email asking you to check your applicant portal for more details.
Step 4 we let you know our decision
If your application is successful you will receive an offer letter. Occasionally the school may think that it is more appropriate to offer you a place on a different Masters course. In this case we would notify you of a change of course offer, and you would be able to see the details of this by logging in to your applicant portal
