We welcome applications from mature students for full-time and part-time programmes. Their life and work experience mean there are alternative entry routes available to them other than formal qualifications; for example, a validated access course and the Access to Higher Education Diploma. They could also use our alternative entry scheme to demonstrate their readiness for university study or apply for one of the foundation programmes.
Mature applicants should complete the personal statement fully and carefully, remembering that this is a vital opportunity to give evidence that helps us to make an informed judgement about their application. They should aim to cover the following three areas:
- reasons for applying to this programme (what interests them about the subject matter and programme? How do they see themselves benefiting from their studies?)
- experience of study (any recent study or training that shows their capacity to commit to a programme of learning, strengths and skills, any factors that have limited what they have been able to achieve that we should take into account)
- range of skills, knowledge and experience (how their existing knowledge, skills and experience could be relevant for their future studies)
