Boys into Psychology privacy notice

Find out what data we collect, why we collect it and how long we keep it for the Boys into Psychology project.

To organise events and activities:

In addition to the information we ask from your teachers and parents to organise your trip to the university campus, which are covered in the Teachers and Advisors privacy notice and Parent and Carer Communications privacy notice, we will also ask for your Unique Pupil Number (UPN) and parent/carer’s consent to take part in the research study which forms part of this project.

The research conducted in the neuroscience workshop is part of a larger longitudinal research study that has been taking place over many years called Born in Bradford (BiB). The information shared with the BiB research team is the UPN and parent/carer’s consent of students participating in the workshop. For more information about what sort of data the research team will be collecting and how it is used, please read the Participant Information Sheet. A copy of this should have been made available to you but if you need one, please email the Health Sciences Team at Medicineandhealth@leeds.ac.uk

Ethical approval for the study has been granted by the University’s Ethics Review Committee.

We will also ask for sensitive data about any disability or health, religious and dietary requirements, known as special category data, so that we can support you to take part.  We will invite you to update this information to ensure it is up to date for the duration of the programme. We delete all your disability and health, religious and dietary requirements when you finish the programme.

Improving what we offer:

With you and your parent/carer’s permission, we will use your name, date of birth, postcode and school to monitor which of our activities you take part in and whether you apply to one of the courses at the University of Leeds. We do this through the national Higher Education Access Tracker (HEAT) database which helps us to understand the impact the programme has on the choices you make and what we can do to improve it for future participants.

Staying in touch with us:

If you give your consent, we will keep your contact details to stay in touch with you after the programme, to send you information about other things that we think will support your studies and progress to higher education, such as further activities, opportunities or resources.  If this is the case, we’ll keep them for up to three years and you can unsubscribe at any time.
