The University offers a wide range of scholarships for international students, from partial fee awards to full scholarships covering fees, maintenance grants and other allowances.

It is important to make enquiries and apply for sources of funding as early as you can. Search our postgraduate scholarships online, or visit the faculties page and find undergraduate scholarships in the school you are applying to.

Below are our scholarships for international undergraduate students (overseas fee rated), starting a degree in September 2017.


The International Undergraduate Science and Engineering Scholarship

How much is it worth?
£2,000 per year (with a maximum of £8,000) subject to satisfactory progression.
Who is eligible?
Any overseas fee paying applicants who have been offered a place on an undergraduate degree programme.

All of the science and engineering undergraduate courses in the following schools and faculties:
Biological Sciences
Computing
Chemistry
Civil Engineering
Electronic and Electrical Engineering
Environment (science-based courses only)
Food Science and Nutrition
Mechanical Engineering
Physics and Astronomy
Chemical and Process Engineering
Psychology

No application necessary — automatic to those meeting the criteria
Terms and conditions
Applicants must be self-funding and not in receipt of other fee scholarships, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto level 1 and classified as international for tuition fee purposes and not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award.
Students must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60%. The scholarship will be withheld in a year where a student fails to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if the student's performance recovers to 60% or over.
Self-funding students who successfully complete the International Foundation Year (IFY) at Leeds will also be eligible for this bursary.

Biological Sciences Dean's Excellence Scholarship

How much is it worth?
£5,000 per year (with a maximum of £20,000) subject to satisfactory progression.
Who is eligible?
High achieving applicants who have been offered a place on any of the undergraduate degree courses within the Faculty of Biological Sciences that achieve A*AA at A-level (A2) or equivalent will be considered for this scholarship.
How are they awarded

This scholarship is awarded based on academic excellence to the three highest achieving applicants and will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.

No application is necessary — automatic to those meeting the criteria

Applicants must be self-funding, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto level 1 and classified as international for tuition fee purposes and not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award.

Students must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60%. The scholarship will be withheld in a year where a student fails to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if the student's performance recovers to 60% or over. £5,000 will be awarded per year of study. Students don’t receive the scholarship for the industrial placement year or study abroad year unless it’s incorporated within the programme.

Self-funding students who successfully complete the International Foundation Year (IFY) at Leeds will also be eligible for this bursary.
Those students who achieve this award will not then receive the International Science and Engineering Scholarships.

The Excellence in Mathematics Scholarships

How much is it worth?
£3,000 one-off fee reduction in year one for single honours Mathematics degrees and £1,500 one-off fee reduction in year one for joint honours Mathematics degrees.
Who is eligible?
Overseas rated fee paying students with outstanding qualifications. Typically A*AA (with A* in Mathematics), or AAA (including Mathematics and Further Mathematics) at A-level (A2), or equivalent, and who pay fees at the international rate and make Leeds their firm choice on the UCAS system.

The Business School International Excellence Scholarship

How much is it worth?
Up to £7,500 in total. £2,500 a year towards tuition fees, subject to satisfactory progression.
Who is eligible?

The Leeds University Business School International Foundation Year Scholarship

How much is it worth?
Up to £7,500 in total. £2,500 a year towards tuition fees, subject to satisfactory progression.
Who is eligible?
Overseas fee rated students on the University of Leeds International Foundation Year (IFY)
To be considered you must achieve a minimum overall average of at least 75% on the Leeds IFY with no single module below a grade B

£2,500 one-off payment as fee reduction
Who is eligible?
