Help for disabled students

If you are a disabled student you could be entitled to an extra grant. The Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) helps disabled students cover any additional costs that arise from their disability, including special equipment, non-medical helpers and other general expenses. You can get more details and download a guide from the Directgov website

You can also visit www.equality.leeds.ac.uk for information on the University's guidance and support for disabled students.

Students from Scotland or Northern Ireland

Information for students living in Scotland is available from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland and for students living in Northern Ireland from the StudentfinanceNI

Help for students with children

If you have children you could be eligible for a range of government grants and allowances. To find out more visit the Directgov website

There is plenty of support available, but it's not always easy to work out what you're entitled to, especially if you are already getting benefits. If you want some help you can get individual advice from the Student Advice Centre in Leeds University Union. They'll be happy to help.
