How our research adds upWe were 8th for research power in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise

Leeds is one of the UK's top research universities with more than 61% of our research rated as 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent,' securing the University 14th place in the UK for research quality, and 8th place for research power in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).

  • Leeds comes eighth in the country for 'research power' - a measure of quality and volume
  • 61% of research is ranked 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent,' and a further 33% is 'recognised internationally'
  • The work of 1,328 (1,269 FTEs) staff was submitted - the sixth highest in the UK.
