Flexible studyWe've got lots of ways for you to learn, so you can choose what's right for you

Our Lifelong Learning Centre is a welcoming home for all mature and part-time students. It provides specialist support and services including academic skills sessions, peer support schemes, social events and advice on financial and disability support.

You can also get expert and impartial guidance and support in a confidential and friendly environment. Our staff are experienced in working with mature students who are thinking of returning to study and will welcome your enquiry.

Mature students

Your life and work experience mean there are alternative entry routes available to you other than formal qualifications. A validated Access course and the Access to HE Diploma are examples of suitable qualifications for many courses. The level of competition for places on our courses varies and you should talk to the admissions tutors regarding those that interest you before applying. The admissions tutor will also be able to give advice on any entry requirements or evidence of study skills that you may need.

Part-time study

Part-time study is also open to school-leavers and is an excellent way of completing a degree without building debts, as you are able to work while you study.

We provide:

  • single and joint honours degree programmes
  • foundation degrees and diplomas of higher education, each with linked 'top-up' honours degree programmes
  • certificate programmes
  • preparation for higher education (PHE)
  • short courses some of which are delivered in the local community
  • activities developed with partners, colleges and community organisations to raise aspirations and increase understanding of what higher education can offer.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements vary according to the individual programme, but we aim to make them as flexible as possible and include options for those without formal qualifications. Find out more about our entry requirements

Fees and financial support

Our staff offer advice on bursaries, scholarships, support grants and on managing your finances as a part-time student. Get information on fees and financial support for 2012
