We welcome students from over 145 countries to Leeds each year, making the University of Leeds truly multicultural. Of our 33,000 students we currently have 46 from Brunei.
We regularly travel overseas to meet prospective students, so find out when we are next in your country and come and have a chat with us.
Darryl Tieng is studying BSc Geological Sciences.
"I like the vibrant student life here where the student union is always actively involved in things. The best thing about university life is the freedom and learning how to be independent (along with other people in the same boat).
The highlights of my time at university so far have been all the new experiences! Things that I have never experienced back in Brunei such as Leeds nightlife, leaves falling off the trees, the cold (compared to heat back home). It's bizarre.
I love the earth and anything to do with the environment due to frequent travelling so studying Geological Science was a natural choice. I chose Leeds because I had heard it was a cosmopolitan and friendly place to study. My ambitions for the future are to be a geologist who travels the world - future Indiana Jones in the making here!!"
